When Hungary was part of the Roman Empire its capital was Aquincum. The excavated ruins of this ancient city date back to the second century, and are still standing today, available to visit. Attractions include the remains of an amphitheater, mosaic floors, tombstones, statues and a reconstructed water-organ.
