One of the capital’s highlights during spring, the Budapest Spring Festival is the hottest place to discover musical talent in the city. The event commences with the Feast of Hungarian Jazz 2017 held from 31st March – 8th April at the Budapest Jazz Club. The festival includes a number of free events, exhibitions, concerts and open-air celebrations to cater for all music and artistic tastes – not to be missed!
Cherry Blossom Festival
9th – 10th April 2017
Join locals and travellers who flock to the city to celebrate the cherry blossom season in Budapest and attend the annual Sakura Festival at Hungary’s oldest botanical garden, the Fűvészkert Botanical Gardens. Take a walk round this idyllic setting and admire the dazzling pink trees that have turned just in time for spring – perfect Instagram material.

Although Hungary hosts several wine festivals
throughout the year, the Rosalia Festival is the only one entirely dedicated to rosé. Held at the sprawling Budapest City Park, this festival brings together connoisseurs and aficionados interested in sampling some of the best rosé wines and Champagnes from around the world – all paired with delicious Hungarian food of course. Expect food, live jazz, and fun for all the family, especially rosé lovers.

Marking the start of Shakespeare season in Budapest, the Hungarian State Opera holds the yearly Shakespeare400+ Festival in honour of the bard of international fame. This year, the festival will host 17 adaptations in three separate venues that include the Opera House, the Erkel Theatre, and the Music Academy. Most of the performances may be viewed more than once, with several Hungarian premiers also being featured on this year’s programme.
