The Best Events in Budapest this Autumn. Once the leaves turn golden and temperatures start to cool, the vibe in Budapest shifts from sightseeing in the sun to celebrating the new season through a series of colourful events. Budapest comes alive as thousands flock to the capital to attend events such as the Tennis Classics Budapest tournament, traditional celebrations such as the Budapest Pálinka and Sausage Festival and artsy events like Budapest Design Week. Budapest Wine Festival
7th – 10th September 2017
Locally referred to as the Budapest Borfesztivál, this event is one of the biggest wine events in Hungary and brings together enthusiasts and local producers for a weekend of celebrations and fine vintages. Make your way through several stalls manned by Hungarian and international wineries and sample the finest of tipples whilst enjoying live entertainment and a flamboyant parade.
15th – 17th September 2017
Budapest’s great equestrian heritage is celebrated at the yearly National Gallop. Turn up at the historical Heroes’ Square and join several riders from across the country as they demonstrate their mastery in horseback in true ‘hussar’ fashion.
Budapest Pálinka and Sausage Festival
2nd – 4th October 2017
Sample over twenty varieties of the Hungarian brandy known as pálinka, and taste a myriad local sausage types in one of the most anticipated gastronomic events of the season. The Budapest Pálinka and Sausage Festival is an annual event that’s organised alongside the stunning Buda Castle on Castle Hill and includes the country’s top food producers and local distilleries. They say sausage and pálinka pair extremely well, here’s your chance to find out first hand.
Budapest Design Week
6th – 15th October 2017
Art, furniture, fashion and design experts meet in Budapest every Autumn to showcase their creations and talent at Budapest Design Week. If this sounds like your thing, we surely recommend heading out to the Hungarian capital during this week for your chance to mingle with exhibitors and enthusiasts from around the globe whilst viewing some incredible masterpieces.
CAFe Budapest Contemporary Arts Festival
6th – 22nd October 2017
As the name implies, the CAFe Budapest Contemporary Arts Festival is an annual celebration of the arts. Spread across a number of different venues across the city, this year’s exciting programme of performances includes a range of genres spanning classical music, opera, art and dance. There are also a number of various events being held such as the Rug Art Fest on the 7th October and Peter Eötvös and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra on the 14th.
